One of Japan's three great Tenmangu shrines, founded in 904 as the first shrine dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning. Famous for the wild Hadakabo Festival in November and plum blossoms in spring. Located in Hofu City, just southeast of Yamaguchi City.
