One of the oldest shrines in Japan and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located at the junction of the Takano and Kamo rivers in northern Kyoto, surrounded by the primeval Tadasu no Mori forest. The shrine hosts numerous seasonal festivals including the Mitarashi Festival in July, where visitors wade in the sacred stream.
