17th Night & Bon Odori Dance

The 17th Night Bon Odori at Todai-ji combines a traditional folk dance celebration with the beautiful spectacle of the 17th night moon rising over the Great Buddha Hall. Participants join in the lively circle dance, wearing yukata and dancing to the beat of taiko drums in the floodlit courtyard. It is a joyful end-of-summer gathering that perfectly captures the festive, communal spirit of Japan's Obon season.
