A row of historic rice warehouses built in 1893 by the former Sakai clan, now designated as a National Historic Site. The iconic lineup of 12 white-walled storehouses backed by a towering zelkova tree-lined avenue is one of Yamagata's most photogenic scenes. Some buildings now house museums and souvenir shops.
