The iconic castle of the Aizu region, famous for its distinctive red-tiled roof, the only one of its kind among Japanese castles. Originally built in 1384 and rebuilt in 1965, the five-story keep houses a museum of Aizu samurai history. The castle grounds feature over 1,000 cherry trees.
