Senjokaku (Toyokuni Shrine)

A massive unfinished wooden hall on Miyajima Island, begun by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1587 but left incomplete at his death. The hall's name means 'pavilion of a thousand tatami mats,' reflecting its vast open interior. Located beside Itsukushima Shrine, it offers panoramic views of the surrounding sea.
