The site of Nobeoka Castle, built in 1603 by Takahashi Mototane, now laid out as Shiroyama Park. Its highlight is the 22-metre "thousand-killer" stone wall, said to collapse and crush a thousand attackers if one key stone is pulled out. The park's bell tower still rings every three hours from 6 a.m., and the grounds are a well-known cherry blossom spot; the Ninomaru plaza hosts open-air noh and other events.
