A quiet hot-spring hamlet in the wooded hills east of Kanazawa, used as a retreat since the Edo period when it served the Maeda lords. Its ryokan line a narrow valley beside Yuwaku Inari Shrine, and the village became widely known as the model for the anime Hanasaku Iroha.
