Kochi Castle is one of Japan's twelve surviving original castles and the only one where both the castle tower and the main citadel have survived intact to the present day. Built on a hilltop in the heart of Kochi City, the castle offers panoramic views of the surrounding plains and mountains. The castle is celebrated for its association with Yamanouchi Kazutoyo, the lord who was encouraged by his wife Chiyo to achieve greatness.
