An ancient shrine in the Shimoyoshida district of Chichibu, Saitama, said to have been founded by the legendary prince Yamato Takeru. It is best known as the venue of the Ryusei Matsuri, the autumn grand festival at which locally built black-powder rockets are launched as offerings; the rockets are designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan.
