Historic Shinto shrine in Toyohashi, Aichi, renowned as the birthplace of tezutsu hanabi (hand-held fireworks). Founded in the Nara period, the shrine is home to the famous Toyohashi Gion Festival held every July, where massive hand-tube fireworks are offered to the gods in a spectacular ritual dating back to 1558.
