A free public rose garden in Odate, Akita, laid out on the former private grounds of Hirohide Ishida, the city's first honorary citizen. Around 2,300 square metres hold some 500 varieties of roses, which bloom in early summer and again in autumn, when the flowers carry a deeper colour and stronger scent.
