A spectacular mountaintop temple complex founded in 860, famous for its 1,015 stone steps leading through ancient cedar forests to panoramic viewpoints. The poet Matsuo Basho composed one of his most celebrated haiku here. The Godaido observation platform offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and mountains.
