Autumn grand festival of Nikko Toshogu Shrine, held on the same dates every year: sacred yabusame horseback archery on Oct 16 and the One Thousand Samurai Procession (Hyakumono-zoroe Sennin Musha Gyoretsu) re-enacting the transfer of Tokugawa Ieyasu's remains on Oct 17.
