Yoshida Fire Festival 2026

About this event

One of Japan's three most unusual festivals, held annually at Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine. On Aug 26, over 70 massive torches (3m tall) are lit along the approach road, turning the streets into a sea of fire. On Aug 27, the Susuki Festival processional returns the mikoshi to the shrine. The festival marks the symbolic closing of the Mt. Fuji climbing season.
