Owari Tsushima Tenno Festival

About this event

One of Japan's three great river festivals and a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. On the evening of July 25, five makiwara boats adorned with over 500 lanterns each float down the Tennogawa river. The morning festival on July 26 features boats with elaborate decorations and men diving into the river with ceremonial spears.
