About this event
A centuries-old ceremony at UNESCO World Heritage Toshodaiji Temple where heart-shaped fans are thrown from the Drum Tower to crowds below. The fans, called 'hosen', are believed to ward off illness and evil spirits. Participation tickets required, distributed from 9 AM.
