64th Akkeshi Oyster Festival

Akkeshi in eastern Hokkaido is one of Japan's great oyster grounds, and this two-day autumn festival at Nenohi Park is its showcase. Stalls sell oysters, clams and other local seafood, charcoal grills can be rented on the spot, and side events include an oyster-grabbing contest. Admission and parking are free.
