39th Yatsushiro National Fireworks Competition (cancelled for 2026)

About this event

CANCELLED. On 27 August 2026 the organising committee announced that the fireworks competition would not be held, owing to the earthquake; sales of paid seating and parking were also suspended. In normal years the competition is staged on the Kuma River green in Yatsushiro, upstream of Shinhagiwara Bridge, with pyrotechnicians from across Japan competing.
