One of Japan's twelve original castle keeps, Hirosaki Castle was built in 1611 by the Tsugaru clan. The three-story tower sits within Hirosaki Park, which is considered one of Japan's top cherry blossom viewing spots with over 2,600 cherry trees. The castle grounds are spectacular during autumn foliage and the Hirosaki Snow Lantern Festival in winter.
