One of Japan's most important Shinto shrines, enshrining the sacred sword Kusanagi no Tsurugi, one of the three Imperial Regalia. The vast wooded grounds provide a peaceful retreat in the heart of Nagoya. The annual Atsuta Matsuri in June is the city's biggest festival.
