One of Japan five National Treasure castles, Matsumoto Castle is a stunning original keep dating from the late 16th century. Known as the Crow Castle for its striking black exterior, it is the oldest five-tiered six-story wooden castle donjon in Japan. The castle grounds and moat are especially beautiful during cherry blossom and autumn seasons.
