A shrine dedicated to Emperor Tenji, known as the sacred ground of competitive karuta (Japanese card game) and featured in the popular manga and anime Chihayafuru. The shrine also houses a unique clock museum, as Emperor Tenji is credited with introducing water clocks to Japan.
