Chiran Samurai District Gardens

Known as the 'Kyoto of Satsuma,' this remarkably preserved samurai district in Minamikyushu features seven historic samurai residences with nationally designated gardens. Stone-paved lanes lined with hedges and walls create a timeless atmosphere over 250 years old. The gardens blend elements of Ryukyu and Edo garden styles unique to southern Kyushu.
