A shrine on the sacred island of Kinkasan off the Oshika Peninsula, founded in 749 near the site where Japan's first domestic gold was presented to the imperial court. Wild deer and monkeys roam the island freely, and pilgrims believe that visiting three years running brings lifelong prosperity.
