A UNESCO World Heritage temple in Hiraizumi founded in 850, famed for its Pure Land garden centered on the Oizumigaike Pond — one of the finest surviving examples of Heian-period garden design. The temple hosts the graceful Ennen-no-Mai dances and seasonal festivals such as the spring and autumn Fujiwara Festivals.
