One of Osaka's most important shrines, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of scholarship. Famous as the venue of the Tenjin Matsuri, one of Japan's three greatest festivals held every July. The shrine precincts include a beautiful plum garden and a treasure house. Located near the lively Tenjinbashisuji shopping street, Japan's longest covered shopping arcade.
