Ritsurin Garden

Ritsurin Garden in Takamatsu, Shikoku, is often cited as one of Japan's most beautiful and historically significant gardens, representing the pinnacle of Edo-period strolling garden design. Created over 100 years from the early Edo period, the garden ingeniously incorporates Mount Shiun as borrowed scenery, seamlessly blending the natural and the designed landscape. The six ponds and thirteen hills that form the garden's structure can be explored on foot along scenic paths throughout the year.
