Sakurajima
Kagoshima, Japan
🌿 Nature
Sakurajima is one of Japan's most active volcanoes, dramatically rising from Kagoshima Bay on the southernmost main island of Kyushu. Once an island, it became connected to the Osumi Peninsula by lava flows from a major 1914 eruption. The volcano's constant activity, including frequent ash falls over Kagoshima City, makes it one of the world's most closely monitored geological sites.
