The ichinomiya (first shrine) of the former Uwajima domain, established as the guardian shrine of the castle town by the first lord Date Hidemune. Its autumn festival on October 29 is famous for the ushi-oni (ox demon) procession and the Yatsushika deer dance handed down from Sendai.
