Sado Kinzan (Sado Gold Mine)

UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 2024. One of Japan's most historically significant gold and silver mines, operating from the Edo period until 1989. The mine complex features restored tunnels with life-size dioramas of Edo-era miners, surface ruins, and a museum showcasing the island's mining heritage.
