Zenko-ji

Zenko-ji in Nagano City is one of Japan's most important and oldest Buddhist temples, drawing over six million pilgrims and visitors annually. The temple enshrines the Ikkou Sanzon, Japan's first Buddhist statue, which is kept as a secret object never shown to the public, though a replica is displayed every six years in the Gokaicho ceremony. The temple is unique in that it has always welcomed worshippers of all sects and genders, regardless of religious affiliation.
