Inuyama Castle, perched dramatically above the Kiso River in Aichi Prefecture, is one of Japan's twelve remaining original castles and a designated National Treasure. Built in 1537, it is the oldest surviving castle tower in Japan. The castle's commanding views of the river valley and the surrounding landscape have made it a beloved subject of artists and poets throughout the centuries.
