Senko-ji Temple (Hydrangea Temple)

Founded by Eisai in 1192, Senko-ji is one of Japan's oldest Zen temples and is known as the Hydrangea Temple for its approximately 7,000 hydrangea bushes that blanket the hillside each June. The temple also houses a prefectural cultural treasure bell.
