Arao Tidal Flat

A Ramsar-listed tidal flat on the Ariake Sea in Arao, Kumamoto, stretching some 1,700 hectares. At low tide the mud reaches far offshore, and the flats are an important stopover for migrating shorebirds as well as a well-known sunset viewpoint.
