Mountaintop castle ruins in Taketa, Oita, famed for majestic stone walls rising above the valley. Said to have inspired Rentaro Taki's melody 'Kojo no Tsuki'. Spectacular autumn foliage, and the castle town below hosts the Taketa Chikuraku bamboo lantern festival every November.
