Mitokusan Sanbutsuji Temple

A mountain temple founded in 706 on the slopes of Mt. Mitoku, and one of Japan's most striking religious sites. Its Nageiredo hall, a National Treasure, is wedged into a cliff hollow and can only be reached by a steep scramble up rock and tree roots, making it often called the most dangerous national treasure to visit.
