Izumo Taisha Kamiari Festival 2026

Across Japan the tenth lunar month is "the month without gods" — but in Izumo it is Kamiarizuki, the month with gods, when the deities of the whole country are believed to gather at Izumo Taisha. The rites open on 18 November with the Kamimukae ceremony welcoming the gods at Inasa Beach in the evening, followed by Kamiari-sai on the 19th, the Kinen-sai and Enmusubi Taisai on the 23rd, and a final Enmusubi Taisai and the Karasade-sai farewell rite on the 25th.
