Kotohiragu Shrine Grand Festival (Reitaisai)

The most important annual festival of Kotohiragu Shrine, held October 9-11. On the night of the 10th, a solemn torchlit procession of about 600 people in traditional costume escorts the deity's mikoshi down the shrine's famous stone steps to the temporary shrine in town, returning on the 11th.
