About this event
The Hanagasa Flower Umbrella Procession is one of the most colorful and joyful events of the Gion Festival, featuring a parade of beautifully dressed performers carrying flower-adorned umbrellas through the streets of Kyoto. Women in elegant kimono, children, and shrine maidens take part in the procession, which winds from Yasaka Shrine through the festival district. It is a gentler, more festive counterpart to the solemn yamaboko floats and a highlight of the Ato Matsuri.
