About this event

The autumn grand festival of Takabe Shrine, dedicated to Iwakamutsukari-no-Mikoto, the deity of cooking. Cooks in Heian court dress offer the hocho-shiki, carving fish with knife and chopsticks alone, never touching it by hand.
