Awa Odori Dance Festival

About this event

Japan's largest dance festival with over 400 years of history. Approximately 100,000 dancers form groups called 'ren' and parade through the streets to the rhythmic chant of 'Yatto-sa!'. Over 1 million spectators visit during the 4-day event. The traditional saying goes: 'The dancing fool and the watching fool are both fools, so you might as well dance!'
