About this event
The Shichi-Go-San Festival at Heian Jingu is a particularly elegant celebration of this beloved Japanese childhood milestone, held in the refined surroundings of one of Kyoto's most magnificent shrines. Children aged three, five, and seven are dressed in traditional kimono and brought to the shrine to receive blessings for their continued growth and health. The sight of small children in their finest formal wear walking through Heian Jingu's brilliant vermillion gates is one of autumn's most heartwarming scenes.
