Shoyoen, the Edo-period strolling pond garden of Rinnoji Temple in Nikko, opens for special evening viewing. Soft lighting picks out crimson maples that are mirrored in the pond. Held on eight nights: 23, 24, 30 and 31 October and 1, 6, 7 and 8 November.
