One of the Tohoku Big Summer Festivals featuring over 10,000 dancers parading through downtown Yamagata, waving crimson flower-decorated straw hats (hanagasa) in choreographed movements. The rhythmic chant of Yassho Makasho fills the streets as dance teams showcase traditional and creative dance styles.
