Autumn Equinox Service

The Autumn Equinox Service at Zojoji Temple is a Buddhist observance held during Higan, the week around the autumn equinox when the worlds of the living and the dead are believed to be closest. Monks perform memorial rites for deceased ancestors as families gather to pray together and visit family graves. The ceremony offers a moment of serene reflection as summer gives way to the cooler days of autumn.
