77th Marimo Festival

About this event

Held since 1950 at Lake Akan to protect the rare marimo moss balls, this three-day Ainu cultural festival features the traditional kamuinomi prayer ceremony, a torch parade through the hot spring town, and classical Ainu dance performances by groups from across Hokkaido.
