About this event
One of Edo's three great festivals, held biennially at Hie Shrine in Akasaka, Tokyo. The 2026 edition is a 'hon-matsuri' (main festival) year. The grand Shinko-sai procession on June 12 features 500 people in Heian-period court attire parading through central Tokyo, passing the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Station, and Ginza with two sacred palanquins and six floats.
