About this event
One of Japan's three great festivals, Gion Matsuri spans the entire month of July in Kyoto. The highlights are the Yamaboko Junko float processions on July 17 and 24, where enormous decorated floats are pulled through the streets. Evening Yoiyama street festivals on July 14-16 feature food stalls and lantern-lit floats.
