Tenjin Festival

Tenjin Festival at Osaka Tenmangu Shrine is one of Japan's three greatest festivals, celebrated in honor of the deified scholar Sugawara no Michizane. The festivities culminate on July 25th with a spectacular river procession of over 100 boats carrying lanterns and mikoshi along the Okawa River, accompanied by fireworks. The combination of sacred ritual, dazzling illumination, and golden fireworks over the river makes it one of the most unforgettable nights in Japan.
